Concrete Driveways in Los Angeles
A driveway is the largest single slab on most Los Angeles properties, and it takes the most abuse: hot afternoon sun, heavy vehicles turning at the curb, and irrigation soaking the subgrade at the edges. We plan driveways around those realities — subgrade prep, thickness, reinforcement and joint layout first, finish second.
Scope
What this work includes
- New driveway pours and full tear-out replacement
- Driveway widening, extensions and parking pads
- Aprons, curb approaches and garage transitions
- Broom, smooth-trowel and exposed-aggregate finishes
- Drainage-aware slopes so water leaves the slab
- Control joints laid out to steer where concrete cracks
Subgrade prep decides how long the slab lasts
Most driveway failures we're called out to look at are subgrade problems, not concrete problems. Soft spots, old fill, tree roots and unconsolidated trench lines all move under load. We over-excavate and compact before any forms go in.
Slope, gutters and the public right-of-way
Driveways in Los Angeles have to shed water toward the street without pooling at the garage or spilling across the sidewalk. Work that touches the sidewalk, curb or gutter may require a permit from the City of Los Angeles — we'll tell you when your scope reaches that line.
Joints and reinforcement
Concrete moves. Sawn or tooled control joints, correct panel sizing and rebar or mesh where the load calls for it keep that movement in straight, planned lines instead of random cracks across the middle of your driveway.
How the work goes
Our process, start to finish
- 01
Phone conversation
You call, we ask what the slab is doing, how the space is used and what access looks like. Photos help. No form to fill out.
- 02
On-site look
We walk the area, check drainage, subgrade and existing concrete, and confirm measurements and elevations.
- 03
Written scope
You get the scope in writing: dimensions, thickness, reinforcement, finish, joint layout and what's excluded.
- 04
Prep and forming
Demolition and haul-off, grading and compaction, base rock, forms, reinforcement — the part that determines the outcome.
- 05
Pour and finish
Placement, screeding, floating, the finish you chose, and joints cut or tooled where they belong.
- 06
Cure and walkthrough
We tell you when to stay off it, when vehicles can return, and we walk the finished work with you.

Where we work
Driveways across Los Angeles
Conditions change block to block in this city. Hillside access, older subgrade, street tree roots and permit requirements at the sidewalk all shift how the same job gets built.
Downtown Los Angeles
Tight sites, shared alleys and loading constraints — work is usually phased and often pumped rather than truck-chuted.
Silver Lake & Echo Park
Hillside lots with stairs and steep driveways, where access and elevation planning matter as much as the pour itself.
Highland Park & Eagle Rock
Older bungalow lots with original walkways and porches that are frequently past repair and better replaced.
Hollywood & East Hollywood
Dense street parking and permit-heavy curb work; we plan truck staging before the day of the pour.
Mid-City & Koreatown
Mixed residential and small commercial flatwork, including path-of-travel and trash-enclosure pads.
West Los Angeles & Palms
Driveway replacements and garage-to-ADU pads on narrow lots with limited side-yard access.
